Market validated and led the design efforts for an asset management, value added, product offering for current Investment Manager customers. AppFolio Alpha is a robust platform that provides asset managers the ability to aggregate, normalize, and visualize key property management data. It provides investment companies actionable insights to drive better property performance, therefore providing better returns for their investors.

Waterfall Distributions are complex to manage for real estate investment managers. To stay competitive in the market we needed to build a waterfall feature that is accurate and easy to use.

After an internal market validation was completed the AppFolio leadership team kicked off a project to build new software to service Real Estate Investment Managers. A small cross functional product and engineering team was put together to determine what the MVP features were in order to get paying customers.

NPS responses and customer feedback indicated that our property management software’s maintenance features were lacking. Our goal was to explore the space and find opportunities for improvement in order to streamline processes for our users.

Property manager’s with a lot of units to manage receive a lot of utility bills. Entering a bill in our accounting software was a very tedious, manual process. Our goal was to find a simpler, faster, more user friendly way to complete this process.

A confusing modal in our software was causing users to make mistakes when moving tenants into occupied units. Within a week we identified a simple solution and saw the mistakes drop significantly after releasing.

Our e-commerce site did not allow customers to add to a cart until they created an account. As part of the implementation of guest shopping we realized our already bloated header needed a redesign to accommodate the new functionality.

Our company was using a third party service to create a mobile version of the website. The goal was to take this effort in house to save money and speed up development time.

It was difficult for customers to find information about their past orders. We worked on improving the search functionality, as well as giving users a way to sort and filter the tables.
